6th St Bridge Safety & Improvements

Category: City Projects

In May 2025, the new bridge plan was submitted for approval. The preliminary design (30%) for the project is complete, and the project team will continue to add details, with a final plan being ready in April 2026. Additional engagement around aesthetic details will happen during the fall of 2025. The next stage of design includes work with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) regarding permitting for modifications to the flood wall to maintain existing flood protection. The property acquisition phase is starting, and will continue throughout 2025. The project team will also work on approvals for crossing the railroad and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review.
