Trades and Contractor Licenses

Applications for trade and contractor licenses are processed online through the Citizen Access portal. You can submit a new license or a renewal of an existing license directly into this portal.
The following types of licenses are required:
- HVAC Contractor
- HVAC Master Installer
- Sewer and Drain Contractor
- Sidewalk and Driveway Contractor
- Sign Erector
- Tree Care
In some instances, the City of Rochester requires a license from the State of Minnesota in order to do work in the city. This includes electricians and plumbers. For more information on Building Codes and Licenses, visit our The Building Codes and Licensing Webpage
