How to Pay a Parking TIcket/Parking Citations

There are multiple options for paying parking tickets.

  • Pay Online
  • US Mail: write a check and mail to the address listed on the ticket
  • Drop box: located at the entrance to the Government Center parking lot off of 4th St SE, do not put cash in the drop box.
  • Over the phone: IPS at 855-507-2006 for no additional fee

Contesting a parking ticket/citation:

To contest a parking ticket: Parking Violations | Rochester, MN (rochestermn.gov). Note that there is no one at the City who can assist with this process--this citation portal is the only way to contest a parking ticket.

If you are getting tickets for a car you've already sold:

According to the Minnesota Judicial Branch (mncourts.gov) and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety - Driver & Vehicle Service (dps.mn.gov) anyone experiencing this type of issue should take the following steps.

Effective 9/16/2024, when a caller advises that they have received a traffic or parking citation that they no longer own, provide the following guidance: According to the Minnesota Judicial Branch (mncourts.gov) and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety - Driver & Vehicle Service (dps.mn.gov) anyone experiencing this type of issue should take the following steps.

STEP 1: Notify MN Department of Public Safety/Driver & Vehicle Services (DVS) of sale.

STEP 2: Print or Save a copy of the notice.

STEP 3: Contest the parking ticket online at https://rochestermn.citationportal.com and upload either a copy of the notice of sale or the seller’s stub off the title with the buyer’s information
