To sign up for a library card, you have multiple options including visiting the downtown library, visiting the Bookmobile, or applying online. 

Rochester Residents:

Apply Online

• You will receive a temporary card number right away
• Use your temporary card number to access online resources or place holds for pickup
• Bring a photo ID and address verification to the main library or Bookmobile within 30 days to pickup your permanent library card

Rochester residents also qualify for the enhanced Library Municipal ID Card. Applications can be filled out at the library for those who are interested. 

Minnesota Residents:

Apply Online

• You will receive a temporary card number right away
• Use your temporary card number to access online resources or place holds for pickup
• Bring a photo ID and address verification to the main library or Bookmobile within 30 days to pickup your permanent library card

Visitors to Rochester: 

Visitors may apply for a library card at the main library. Please bring a photo ID with verification of permanent address. Visitor cards cost $1 per week.
