Mayor Norton, Council President Schubring to Lead Sister Cities Delegation to Germany

February 10, 2026 ROCHESTER, MN - Mayor Kim Norton and Rochester City Council President Randy Schubring will lead a community delegation to Germany from June 12–22, 2026, as part of Rochester’s Sister Cities program. Residents are invited to join them for an 11-day cultural exchange experience.

The delegation will visit Rochester’s sister cities, Moosburg an der Isar and Meunster, as well as other cultural and historical destinations throughout the region. The trip is designed to strengthen long-standing international relationships through people-to-people connections, cultural exchange, and shared learning.

“Sister City relationships remind us that even though we may live far apart, communities everywhere care about many of the same things,” said Mayor Kim Norton. “This trip gives residents a chance to build lasting connections, learn from our international partners, and bring those experiences back to Rochester.”

“Participating in this delegation is about representing Rochester on a global stage and learning how other cities approach challenges we also face here at home,” Schubring said. “These exchanges give us valuable perspective that can inform our work as a City Council and strengthen Rochester’s connections abroad.”

Participants will have opportunities to meet with local leaders, take part in cultural activities, and represent the City of Rochester while learning from communities abroad. The visit to Germany builds on a similar Sister Cities trip to Japan last summer, when Mayor Norton traveled with a community delegation focused on relationship-building and cultural exchange.
