Rochester Public Transit Proposes Spring Service Changes to Improve Efficiency and Reliability
January 30, 2026 – ROCHESTER, MN – Rochester Public Transit (RPT) is planning a series of service changes for later this spring aimed at improving system efficiency and reliability. The proposed adjustments are designed to better align transit service with current ridership patterns and community needs. Depending on the final decision, which will be guided by public input, these changes are designed to provide more frequent and reliable service on key corridors, improve connections between neighborhoods and major destinations, and make transit easier to use for everyday trips.
The proposed changes include:
- Consolidate Routes 409 and 418 and enhance service frequency
- Consolidate Routes 101 and 206 and enhance service frequency
- Frequency adjustments on Route 203
- Realignment of Route 411
- Realignment of Route 413
- Discontinuation of Route 102
Service to some stops will be maintained on other existing routes - Discontinuation of Route 505
Service to some stops will be maintained on other existing routes - Transition of select routes from loop service to two-way service
- Reduce hours of operation on weekends

RPT is hosting multiple public engagement opportunities to gather feedback from residents.

Each session will begin with a presentation outlining proposed changes, followed by an opportunity for questions from attendees. - Monday, February 9: Noon to 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams
