Outdoor Ice Rinks Open to the Public Friday, December 12

December 11, 2025 – ROCHESTER, MINN. – The City of Rochester Parks and Recreation Department is excited to welcome the community back to the ice. Outdoor skating and hockey rinks across the city will open tomorrow, December 12, weather permitting. Parks staff will have hockey nets ready at the rinks where hockey is allowed, and the ice will be set for families, friends and neighbors to enjoy a fresh start to the winter season. Everyone is encouraged to check rink conditions before heading out since weather can affect ice quality. Full rink details can be found on the City of Rochester website.

Additional Winter Activities

Rochester Parks & Recreation also offer other winter recreation opportunities:

  • Cross-country skiing
    Cross-country ski trails are groomed at multiple park locations. Parks staff groom trails at Gamehaven, while the Rochester Active Sports Community (RASC) grooms trails at Quarry Hill Nature Center and Essex Park. Equipment rentals are available at Quarry Hill and trail updates can be found on the City website.
  • Sledding
    Sledding hills at Gamehaven Park and Judd Park provide fun options for all ages. Sledding information is also available on the City website.
