Smoking Ordinance and Enforcement

Category: 311 Rochester

The Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act (MCIAA) prohibits smoking in indoor public places, public meetings, places of employment, and public transportation. (Minn. Stat. ยงยง 144.411 to 144.417).

Enforcement of the MCIAA is done at the State level, not at the City or County.

However, smoking in common areas of multi-family buildings, including within 15 feet of exterior doors, windows, and air intakes, is prohibited and enforceable through the Olmsted County ordinances (Chapter 2100).
