Garage sales

Zoning Ordinance:

Garage Sales are limited to no more than three sales per calendar year at any one property, and each sale may not exceed three consecutive calendar days.

A permit is not required to hold a garage or yard sale.

No signs are allowed on the public right-of-way under state law (Minn.Stat.160.2715). This includes stick signs, sandwich boards and banners that promote businesses, garage sales or signs for political candidates. The right-of-way includes public streets, bridges, medians, bike lanes, sidewalks, boulevards, trails and pedestrian bridges over roadways. In most cases where sidewalks are present, the right-of-way extends to at least the edge of the sidewalk closest to private property – this includes the grassy area between the sidewalk and the street (known as a boulevard).
