Open House: Silver Lake Area Improvement Projects 

July 2, 2025 – ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA – The City of Rochester invites residents to learn more about improvement projects around Silver Lake Park during an open house event on July 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will include a short presentation at 5:15 p.m., followed by an open house format where attendees can view project materials and speak directly with Parks & Recreation and Public Works staff. Seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to bring a chair.

Topics Include:

Silver Lake Dam Modification Project 

This project addresses long-term maintenance, safety, environmental and accessibility needs at Silver Lake by combining dredging, dam modifications, improved trail connections and future bridge footings. Combining these efforts helps reduce costs and enhances the park experience for all users. View the project website for more information

Silver Lake Park Improvements 

Phase one improvements from the 2023 Silver Lake Master Plan aim to revitalize the park with new and upgraded amenities, including: 

  • A modernized aquatics area 
  • A new playground 
  • An indigenous gathering area 
  • Skate park expansion 
  • A new basketball court 
  • Renovated shelters 

These park improvement projects total approximately $9.7 million and are funded through the 2020 Park Referendum, City Council allocations and grants. View the project website for more information
